  • you give the community a brand they can rally around

example apple "demo days"

  • they would have 'demo days' only for select journalists
  • these guys would get to see the product earlier than others
  • made them fanboys
  • you've also give them something to make money on

be careful

  • if you pick the wrong ones they'll write bad stuff
  • don't drive them nuts
  • give them toys

subject matter

  • where the community feels a strong bond to the problem you are solving
  • tap into what people care about

sales team

mobilizing a sales team around your product from a community benefit angle

  • they might not care
  • or they might really believe and go the extra mile

affiliate + community interest

  • they are passionate about what you do
  • they make $$ for helping you
  • ULTRA SALESMEN!
