In this video, you’re going to learn how to use this nifty tool called Place It to create lifestyle images and videos for your Print on demand products. With Place It, you can make a lot of photos without having to order and this is going to save you a lot of money and time. This is extremely important because product photos are the number one conversion for Facebook ads.
Using Place It will give you an edge over your competitors and I highly recommend it. So to help me in this video, I have Anna from Place It. She’s going to do a site overview and how to utilize Place It to start on your Print on demand products.
Sarah: Welcome Anna and thanks for coming along! Should we get started by maybe looking at lifestyle photos for t-shirts?
Anna: Hi Sarah, thanks for inviting us over here. Yes, the most downloaded item in terms of the license for sale is t-shirt mockups. T-shirt mock up is the most commonly purchased item in our site in terms of mockup. And we have lots of variations in terms of mockups. We have mockups with models, with all sorts of model, from a wide range of gender, background, scenarios. We actually like to call ourselves the largest library of mockups on the internet.

So this is the major page where you would create your own mockup.

It’s super useful. If you want a t-shirt design, just click on the Upload Your Design Here button and choose the design from your computer. You can resize and crop your image.

Then upload it and it’s going to be shown in every single mockup. And you can instantly see tons of variations of mockup based on your design. So you can actually choose the one that you like and further customize.

So if you choose a mockup, the website is going to load the mockup you chose and then you can change the color and add more customization as you go. It’s very easy to make a mockup, you don’t need photoshop or other tools.

Sarah: I think it would be really cool to show off the t-shirt color feature. Anna: Sure! So you just click here over the Shift color and you’ll see a bunch of different colors that you can choose from. Then pick any color you want.

You can either use the color picker or if you already have the hex code of the color you want, you can use it. And the color will be changed automatically.

A lot of t-shirt sellers like Printify offer Heather t-shirts so offer those as well. And I want to show you as well more lifestyle pictures that we have aside from t-shirts. We also have hoodie mockups. So you might want to promote your designs on different kinds of products based on seasons. We have hoodie mockups, tank top mockups and we also have phone cases, pillows, duvet covers. All those products that you may find in Teespring, Printify, Printful, all those sites.

Sarah: Yeah. Mugs are quite popular. They’re great upsell or downsell. If you have a design that’s selling well on a t-shirt then it’s very likely that it’s going to perform as an upsell if you put it on a different type of product like the mug. So can we check out the mugs?
Anna: If you go into the mug mock ups, it looks very similar to the t-shirt one.
You can see the different mockups on the page with different variations and scenarios. And you can filter them with different sizes of the mugs because we know that there are different ounces.

For this one, you can upload your design on both a t-shirt and a mug. So this is very useful for t-shirt designers.
Sarah: I like it actually, it’s fantastic!
Anna: And if you click on the Model button here on the right, you can see all the mockups with that model in different scenarios and different products.
Sarah: That’s great because it helps you create consistency across your site. Having the same model across your site make it look like you hired that model.
Anna: Exactly! And it works if you’re working on a catalog, for example for your social media, as you just said it creates consistency.

Another feature we have that I’m pretty sure you’re audience is using Sarah, are t-shirt videos. You’re going to see a lot of video templates that you can upload your designs to in which the mockups are going to be moving. Instagram and Facebook ads are powered by video content.
So these are super easy to make! Same flow. Upload your design, choose a garment color and that’s it, you can download your video.

Sarah: You show a video that’s like a collection of slideshows, but you also have some videos that show the model walking, moving; that’s incredibly effective. Could we upload a design to that?
Anna: Sure! Let’s make an actual t-shirt design real quick! So let’s make an alien design. Aliens are trending right now!
Sarah: Yeah, that’s another feature of Placeit! So many different templates that you can take advantage of to create t-shirt designs.
Anna: So for example, this design, you have to choose a transparent background so that it goes well with the t-shirt color. When it’s ready, you can download it

Now, I’m going back to the video mockup and click upload. Once it’s uploaded, I’m going to change the shirt color. And there a fewer color options for the garment color. So, I’m choosing this color. And that’s it!
Anna: You can upload your brand’s logo and add some audio tracks and then you’re all ready to go!
Sarah: And it’s also good to combine with other lifestyle videos and put your brand into it.
Anna: Exactly! If you want to combine it with another lifestyle video, just click on add slide and then over here on the side, you want to click on Apparel Mockup.

Anna: And then you’re going to see the videos that you can add. So if you want to showcase one design in like a gallery, you can do that. Or you want to showcase it in other products aside from t-shirts, like hoodies, you can do that.
So it’s the same process, super simple. Once you’ve chosen a video mockup that you would like to add, follow the same, process, upload your design to that mockup. And that’s it, you don’t need to be an expert to do this.
Sarah: No, definitely not.
Anna: You can preview the whole video, it’s going to render the entire thing and it’s super quick.
Sarah: Do you create mockups based on demand from users?
Anna: Everyday, we add new mockups.
Sarah: Fantastic!
Anna: Yeah, we try to keep it fresh! We look at trends, we definitely listen to our customers. So it was no joke that if you guys send us an email, I may not guarantee that it’s going to be done this week but it will be done.
Sarah: Very cool! Ahm, can we go back to the t-shirt mockup because there’s something very cool that I want to show to people? It’s like a hack – two of the biggest niches in print on demand are cats and dogs. Could you do a search – let’s do a search for cats.
Anna: Yeah! Awesome! I’m a cat lady myself, so yes!
Sarah: It’s difficult not to love cats! One of my friends Michael Shih, swears that one for the reasons why his t-shirt design did over a hundred thousand dollars is because he had a mockup with a dog in it. If you’re in the cat or dog niche, this is a fantastic way to increase engagement on your ads and of course on your front page as well
Anna: And following that same line, going back to the t-shirt design template, we also tshirt designs that go in line with pets. So if you look for animal t-shirt designs, we have cats and dogs as well. And any niche, that you see we don’t have available, please let us know.
Sarah: For sure! Do you have any hooded design blankets?
Anna: Yes, we do! We don’t have that many but you can do a search for them in the search bar and look for a hooded blanket.
Sarah: Yeah, that’s a growing niche and the perceived value for those are really high!

00:17 without having to order them, which is going to save
00:20 you a lot of money and a lot of time.
00:22 And this is actually extremely important because outside of the
00:25 design on the product itself, lifestyle photos are the number
00:28 1 conversion factor for Facebook ads. They convert on average
00:32 at much higher rates than a plain product on a
00:35 white background, which you will find on the photos that
00:37 print on demand services like Printify give you. And they
00:41 are also the number 1 conversion factor on product pages
00:44 themselves.
00:44 Customers like to see products on models and in a
00:47 lifestyle
00:48 context. And so Placeit is almost like a secret weapon
00:51 that will give you this big edge over your competitors,
00:54 most of whom are not using lifestyle photos or videos
00:57 to sell their products and designs. They're not gonna be
00:59 upfront, a place that isn't free. So it is optional,

01:43 Yes. The man most common item that gets downloaded in
01:46 terms of lifestyle photos is t shirt mock ups. We
01:49 call them mock ups over here. And t shirt mock
01:52 ups, which you can find right over here on the
01:54 submenu,
01:55 is the most commonly purchased item by far in our
02:00 site in terms of mock ups. Yeah.
02:03 You're like, by far.
02:05 Yeah. Yes. And we have a lot of variations for
02:08 the t shirt mock ups. We have mock ups with
02:10 models. We have mock ups with all sorts of models
02:13 from
02:14 a wide range of ethnicities,
02:17 genders,
02:17 and different,
02:19 I don't know, backgrounds,
02:20 scenarios.
02:22 We have a wide variety of markups. We actually like
02:25 to call ourselves the largest library of markups in the
02:28 Internet.
02:29 And we are superly open to taking your suggestions.

02:57 And it's super useful because if you have your T
02:59 shirt design, you just upload it here. So we're gonna
03:02 make a mock up right here. So let's see.
03:06 You go to your desktop. You upload a design. This
03:09 is not mine, by the way.
03:11 You upload your design
03:13 right here. You crop it.
03:15 You upload it,
03:17 and it's gonna be shown on every single mock up
03:21 that it's on this page.
03:23 And you can also choose a T shirt color for
03:25 visualization,
03:28 and you can instantly see
03:31 tons and hundreds of variations of mock ups
03:34 based on your design. So you can actually choose the
03:38 1 that you like and further customize.
03:41 So, for example, if you like it,
03:44 this guy over here, you just click on it,
03:47 and the website is gonna load with your design preloaded.
03:51 So you can choose to change the color
03:55 and you can choose to do more modifications
03:57 to it as you go.
03:59 So that's how easy it is to make a mock
04:01 up. You don't need Photoshop. You don't need other tools.

04:40 color that you want, you click on more,
04:43 and you can either paste the hex code that you
04:46 already have or you can use the color picker
04:49 to choose the shade that you want, or you can
04:51 drag it over here.
04:53 And that's about it, and it's gonna be changed automatically.
04:57 It works the same way on the previous page that

05:02 way. Very easy.
05:03 The the hex is important just for my viewers because
05:06 of the fact that you want to you don't wanna
05:08 I mean,
05:09 generally, like, you could probably get away with picking a
05:11 color that's close to the t shirt color,
05:14 that you're selling,
05:15 with your print on demand service. But, really, you want
05:18 to, ideally pick the exact shade.
05:20 So the fact that you can do that is very
05:22 important.
05:24 Like, a really easy thing is that to if you're
05:26 selling a T shirt, it's always nice to have a
05:28 white t shirt as an option because of the fact
05:31 that with Placeit,
05:33 it's, you can just you can just very quickly make
05:35 a t shirt that's definitely going to match.
05:38 Yeah. It's definitely gonna match the the tone. Exactly. And
05:41 just as you're saying, a lot of t shirt sellers,
05:44 like Printify,
05:45 offer those heathered T shirts. You know? So we offer
05:49 those as well. Like this 1, for example,
05:51 this is a heathered mock up for those heathered T
05:54 shirts,
05:55 and we offer those as well. This has that heathered
05:58 texture.
05:59 So even if you change the color of the t
06:01 shirt, it's still gonna keep that,
06:04 oh, it's asking me to log in. I'm sorry. That's

06:14 I wanted to show you as well more lifestyle photos
06:16 that we have aside from t shirt mock ups.

06:26 because at least on this side of the world, it's
06:29 gonna be fall and then winter pretty soon. So you
06:32 might want to think about promoting your designs
06:35 on all sorts of products, especially for the different seasons.
06:39 Right? So we have, like, hoodie mock ups, tank top
06:42 mock ups. Think of all those products that the POD
06:45 sites are offering. Right?
06:47 So we also have phone cases, pillows,
06:51 duvet covers, all of those products that you may
06:55 find offered in, I don't know, Teespring, Printify, Printful, all
06:59 those sites, we have the mock up version of those
07:02 so you can get sales. Right?
07:04 And all of those are available on Placeit as well.
07:07 So and they're equally simple. You just drag your design,
07:11 upload your design,
07:13 and download the mock up version of those. Yeah. I
07:16 see, like, you go into the video. I actually think
07:18 that, that for my viewers, actually seeing some of those
07:20 mock ups for some of the more popular products would
07:23 be quite helpful.
07:25 So the mugs are extremely popular.
07:28 Cool. So the mug is a the mug is a
07:29 fantastic,
07:30 either upsell or downsell because
07:34 with if generally, if you've got a print on demand
07:36 design that is performing well on, say, a t shirt,
07:38 then it is very likely going to perform well as
07:41 an upsell if you place it on a different type
07:43 of product such as a mug.
07:46 So could we check out the mugs?
07:47 If you go into the mug mock up generator page,
07:50 it looks very similar to the t shirt 1, only
07:53 with a different product.
07:55 And we have the mug mock ups over here, also
07:58 different variations
07:59 with model, without model,
08:02 and in different scenarios.
08:06 And we can see
08:08 also
08:11 give me 1 second. You can filter them with the
08:14 different sizes of the mugs because we know that if
08:16 there are different ounces, like the different
08:19 types of mugs, we noticed that there were some that
08:22 there were new. Yes. So that's on the that's on
08:25 the left hand side, right, that you can fill out.
08:27 On the left hand side. And these are the ones
08:30 that I was telling you about. Like, for example

08:53 by this model
08:54 and only see the ones that are we are using
08:56 this particular model. If you click on this tab, the
08:59 model tab, you're only gonna be seeing photographs of this
09:03 model in different scenarios and different products.
09:06 Yeah. Which is great because it can create consistency across
09:09 your site. Exactly.
09:11 It basic consistency is very good.
09:14 Having lots of I mean, having having showing that there
09:16 are different there are models that's there's the same model,
09:19 across your site kind of makes it almost look like
09:22 that you've hired that model.
09:24 Exactly.
09:26 And it works if you're working on a catalog or,
09:29 for example, for your social media. As you just said,
09:31 it creates consistency.
09:33 It does. 1 tip is that,
09:36 if you simply take 1 photo and then upload, like,
09:39 10 different designs to it and put them all on
09:42 your site, it'll everyone will know then that she was
09:44 not wearing that t shirt. Exactly. That's why it's good
09:47 to have different pictures of of the model in different
09:49 positions because it means then that, you get there's some
09:52 variation there. So it looks like you took different photos.
09:56 Exactly. Like, you did the photo shoot yourself.
09:59 Another feature we have and that I'm pretty sure that
10:02 your audience, Sarah, is very much using is our t
10:05 shirt videos. Right?
10:08 You're gonna see a lot of video templates that you
10:10 can upload your design to and in which the mock
10:14 ups are actually gonna be moving.
10:16 So video content, as you already know, is very much,
10:20 being pushed by social media. Right? Instagram and Facebook ads
10:24 are powered by video content.
10:26 So these are super easy to make, same flow. You
10:29 upload your design, you choose a garment color,
10:31 and that's it. You download your video.
10:34 So this is very powerful for t shirt mock ups.
10:37 You you showed a video that was almost like a
10:39 slideshow of different pictures, but you've got some videos that
10:42 they for instance, like, they're actually, like, walking and they're
10:45 moving and it's completely smooth, and that's really it's incredibly
10:49 effective.
10:50 Like this here, this is incredibly effective. Any chance we
10:53 could I know that'll be difficult with our Internet connection,
10:56 but could we upload a design to that so that
10:58 people could see how Sure. That is? Because it's just
11:01 Let's do the following. Let's make
11:04 an actual T shirt design real quick so we can
11:07 do both of those
11:09 because I don't think I've shown you how to make
11:11 a T shirt design real quick.

11:16 that's, like, step 1. Right? Like, making a T shirt
11:19 design.
11:20 So let's make,
11:23 animal design. Alien. You know? Aliens are trending right now.
11:28 Yeah. So this is a this is another this is
11:30 another feature,

11:38 And this is also extremely effective if you very quickly
11:41 need to create design. Maybe you've got a product that's

15:01 Very cool. Something I really like too is that you've
15:03 taken the time to upload photos of videos of children
15:07 wearing the t shirts because that can also be a
15:09 fantastic upsell as well. A parent get a t shirt
15:12 design, and then they see that they can get 1,
15:15 in a child size. And they're like, oh, that's super
15:17 cool. It's matching. It's kinda like how, in the print
15:20 on demand world, there's a lot of, ways to upsell
15:23 customers by, say, you know, like, a girlfriend gets a
15:26 t shirt, and then she gets 1 for her boyfriend
15:28 so that it's matching.
15:30 Partners often get,
15:33 the same
15:34 sign for each other. Life sign. This is very cool.
15:37 Look at that. Look at that, guys. It just took
15:39 it took quite less than a minute, actually.
15:41 Yeah. It's super fast. And that's it.
15:44 Yep. And, no. And
15:47 you can combine the videos together as well. So this
15:49 1 is 9 seconds long, but,
15:52 yeah, if you take different if you take different,
15:55 videos, the place it has, you can combine them together
15:58 to to be a bit longer than that. So Exactly.
16:01 If you click on add slide, you get prompted with
16:03 this screen in which you can choose more videos. Like,
16:06 for example, these are logo intros or outros.
16:09 You can choose 1 that you like,
16:11 and, for example, this 1,
16:13 and you just upload your your logo to it, and
16:17 that's it. You're all set. Like, you upload your your
16:20 brand's logo,
16:21 and you add some audio tracks. You download the whole
16:24 thing, and you upload it to your social media, make
16:27 an ad, and you're all ready to go. Very good.
16:29 Absolutely.
16:30 And, that's also nice, that's also nice to combine together
16:34 with the other lifestyle videos as well to have that
16:36 as an outro,
16:38 to signify your brand onto it.
16:41 If you watch a lot of videos on Instagram and
16:44 Facebook, you'll see that a lot of them have an
16:46 outro like that that showcases the brand logo.
16:49 And how would you do that? Exactly. Let me show
16:51 you. If you want to combine it with another lifestyle

19:17 I'm actually a dog person, but still, it's difficult to

19:23 So you guys might know my friend, Michael Sheehy. He
19:26 swears, and I believe him, and I agree with him
19:28 too, that 1 of the biggest reasons why,
19:31 his, t shirt design is at over 100000 dollars and
19:34 did so well is because he had a mock up
19:35 that had a dog in it, and his t shirt
19:38 was about a dog. And so if you have if
19:41 you're if you're in the cat and the dog niche,
19:43 then this is a fantastic way to greatly increase,
19:46 engagement
19:47 on your ads and, of course, on the product page
19:49 as well,
19:51 by actually having photo. And because there are different,
19:54 cats so for instance, you might have a design that
19:56 features a black cat, then it's a really good idea
19:59 to, you know, pick, the mock up that has the
20:02 black cat in it and so on and so forth.
20:05 Yeah. No. Definitely.
20:07 That was just a a little a little hack that
20:09 I wanted to to throw out there for people.
20:11 Yeah. Definitely do a search to see,
20:14 if you've got anything specifically relevant,
20:17 like, you know, if to see if maybe there is
20:19 a design in there that fits with your niche.
20:22 So you're a dog. That's a great idea. Yeah.
20:26 Same thing. Especially with the dogs, this especially applies about,
20:28 you know, trying to if you're choosing dogs are a
20:31 little bit of a trickier niche because of the fact
20:32 that they are different. There are so many different breeds,
20:34 and they look so drastically different from each other. So,
20:37 you know, it's always a good idea to see if
20:39 you can, find a, a photo that matches with your
20:42 breed, and there are lots to choose from there, of
20:45 course.
20:46 Definitely. That's a great idea. And following that same line,
20:50 going back to the t shirt design templates,
20:52 we also
20:54 have T shirt designs
20:56 that go in line with pets. Right? So if you
20:58 do that same exercise on T shirt designs and look
21:01 for
21:02 animal T shirt designs, we have cat T shirt designs
21:05 because we also found that a lot of people are
21:07 looking to design cat T shirts and dog T shirts
21:10 as well.
21:11 So if you're looking to do that as well, it
21:14 is allowed too.
21:15 So Yep. It goes in line.
21:18 And any niche that you're looking for that you see
21:21 that we are not having it available, please let us
